"I think female artists aren't as strong because the females in the game don't know how to get along and help and support each other instead of trying to beat out one another, I think female artists are smart, talented and just need to focus more on the big picture of being successful."

Biography Trina Biography

Katrina Laverne Taylor (born December 3, 1978 in Miami, Florida) better known by her stage name Trina, is an American rapper. Miami-based rapper Trina first gained notoriety in 1998 with her appearance on Trick Daddy's www.thug.com album. Her own debut album, Da Baddest Bitch, featured a cameo by Trick Daddy and was released in early 2000 on Atlantic Records. She spent the next two years honing her raw, raunchy style. She paired up with Missy Elliott for the recording of her second effort, 2002's Diamond Princess.

Katrina Taylor grew up in Miami, Florida suffering many hardships but battled it all, simply by believing that dreams are true and by putting faith in her dreams, someday everything will change for her. She never considered a carrer in music, untill spotted by locally based rapper Trick Daddy, who helped her on her way to stardom. She then shortened her name to just "Trina" and appeared on Trick Daddy's hit "Nann Nigga". Trick Daddy's Slip-N-Slide record label noticed her much praised rapping ablities and rising popularity and continued to team her up with the fellow Miami native.

Trina repesented a sexy, rugged, man-driven look that wasn't new to the music world and included rivals Foxy Brown and Lil Kim. But Trina's music style drove a more controversial issue, due in part to her rebellious nature, sexual lyrics and profanity filled tracks. Her 2000 debut album, "Da Baddest Bitch" was a direct response to the male-dominated rap industry that was known for disregarding women in many hit songs. Her debut gained her a gold-certified single with "69 Ways". Between touring in 2000, Trina teamed up with many rap stars in song remixes, including Missy Elliott's "One Minute Man" and Ludacris' "What's Your Fantasy." Her long awaited second album Diamond Princess was released in August 2002, and the songs "No Panties" and "B R Right/feat. Ludacris" received major airplays.
