Famous Quote

"I am sincerely sweet, but I can't be taken for an idiot, Absence does not make the heart grow fonder, but it sure heats up the blood. Never, never rest contented with any circle of ideas, but always be certain that a wider one is still possible."

Biography Ophelie Winter Biography

Ophélie Kleerekoper-Winter (born February 20, 1974 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France) is a French singer and actress. The daughter of a pop singer, this French beauty successfully made the transition from film to music, with her albums No Soucy! and Privacy.

Ophelie Kleerekoper-Winter was born February 20, 1974, in Boulogne, France. Her father was a famous 70's Dutch pop singer, while her mother was a French fashion model (she's presently her agent). Born into a family of celebrities and talent (her older brother is a musician as well), Winter knew at a young age that she wanted to be famous. Her father David Alexander Winter, was a Jewish Dutch pop singer during the 1970s, while her mother was a French fashion model, who is now currently her agent.

Daughter of Dutch born 70s singer David Alexander Winter and model Cathy Kleerekoper. American singer Prince wrote her a song. Sister of singer/TV-presenter Michael Winter. Is the original singer of Christina Aguilera's hit "What A Girl Wants". Ophélie's version is titled "What A Girl Needs" and can be found in the English version of her album "Privacy". Has her look-alike puppet in the French show "Guignols de l'info, Les" (1988).

Winter moved to the United States to be close to her father after her parents divorced when she was just 2 years old. Winter found herself in the music studio after a friend of her father's, who was also a singer, was looking for a young female to join him in a duet. He suggested she give it a try and next thing she knew, she was in the recording studio. It was in the United States that Winter studied dance, singing, music, and comedy. At the age of 17, she left for Paris where she lived with her mother and brother. It was here she was discovered by a modeling agent on the Champs-Élysées, and after three years of modeling, she decided to become a singer and an actress.

She currently resides in Paris making various TV appearances. She became famous after having worked on television for three years. She starred in three French films, including Hommes, Femmes, Mode D'Emploi (Men, Women: A User's Manual) in 1996; Bouge! (Move!) and Tout Doit Disparaitre (Everything Must Go) in 1997 (she sang in the latter); and most recently, Folle D'Elle (Crazy About Her) in 1999.

Her desire to become a singer began when after a friend of her father's, who was also a singer, was looking for a young female to join him in a duet. Winter accepted and began recording. She now has released three albums: No Soucy!, which her brother collaborated on, Privacy, and Explicit Lyrics. Said to be a perfectionist, Winter's passions include animals and playing the synthesizer. She owns a mare named Marzouck; a female dog by the name of Fanny; and four cats, named Scotty, Henry, Poly, and Goldy. She presently resides in Paris. In the rare spare time that she has, she enjoys skiing and going to her mother's country house and indulging in yoga every morning.
