Georgina Carolina Verbaan (born October 9, 1979 in The Hague) is a Dutch actress and singer. After joining the musical Harlekijn in 1988, Verbaan decided to be an actress. In 1991 she applied for a four year study at the theater school called Rabarber. Has one younger brother, Oswin. Did a screentest for the role of Kim, now played by Angela Schijf, in "Goede tijden, slechte tijden" (1990). Likes to paint exploding bodies, organs and angels. Was engaged to actor Daniel Louis Rivas, they met on the set of Adrenaline (2003) in Capetown. Verbaan became a national celebrity in 1997, at the age of 16 years, when she got the role of "Hedwig Harmsen" in Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden. She was one of the biggest public hikers of the soap opera in her time. For her portrayal, she was nominated at the Dutch Academy Awards in 1998 for Best Actress in a Soap. Verbaan left the show in 2000 to expand her career as an actress. She appeared in the Dutch movie Costa! in 2001. Despite the fact the movie was a public success, the movie flopped. After singing for the theme of the movie, Verbaan also sang her own song; Ritmo. After a cameo in her first international movie Soul Assassin (2001), she appeared in her next national blockbbuster movie Volle maan (2002). Yet again, the movie flopped. In 2003, Verbaan had the lead in the international movie Adrenaline. In November 2004, Verbaan appeared on the cover of the Dutch issue of Playboy magazine. Soon, a lot of rumors came up about the question of Verbaan's breasts were real. Verbaan denied the rumors and eventually had an X-ray made to prove it. For her role in the 2005 B-movie Joyride, Verbaan receaved a Gouden Ui. The Gouden Ui is a Dutch award that is handed out to the worst performances. In 2006, Verbaan represented the Party for the Animals at the Dutch general election, 2006. Verbaan is today still one of the biggest actresses in the Netherlands. She made appearances in several movies and shows. After having guest starred in the successful show Lotte and being a candidate on Ranking the Stars, she will soon star in 't Schaep Met De 5 Pooten. She will also sing several songs for the series. |
