"Because I am a bad girl, people always automatically think that I am a bad girl. Or that I carry a dark secret with me or that I'm obsessed with death. The truth is that I am probably the least morbid person one can meet. If I think more about death than some other people, it is probably because I love life more than they do." |

Gemma Louise Atkinson (born 16 November 1984 in Bury, Greater Manchester) is an English actress, television personality and glamour and lingerie model. She recently appeared as a contestant on the ITV reality TV series I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and is recognisable as one of the most prominent celebrity glamour models in the UK. The English soap opera Hollyoaks has captivated teens across the world. Since 2001, Gemma Atkinson’s character, Lisa Hunter, has certainly been a part of the success of the program and of its sexier spin-offs, including Hollyoaks: In the City.
Originally from Bury, Greater Manchester, Atkinson took her GCSEs at Castlebrook High School before becoming a commercial and photographic model. Gemma was born on November 16, 1984, in Bury, Greater Manchester, England. She went to Castlebrook High School, where she was very involved in school activities. She did quite a bit of athletics and was an avid sports fan.
Atkinson rose to fame playing Lisa Hunter on the Channel 4 teenage soap opera Hollyoaks. Atkinson and Marcus Patric (who played the character Ben Davies) subsequently appeared in a "spin-off" series called Hollyoaks: Let Loose for E4, in which their characters started a new life together in Chester. This was followed by Hollyoaks: In the City also screened on the E4 network.
Gemma Atkinson was too into sports to be interested in modeling and acting in her younger years. Thus, it was Gemma's mom who introduced her to the glitz and glamour of acting and modeling by deceiving her into her first audition. Gemma started off in commercial acting and photographic modeling, and her natural beauty and adorable face quickly made her quite the commodity. In 2001, Gemma Atkinson was cast for the role of Lisa Hunter on the acclaimed English television series Hollyoaks. Her role quickly propelled her into fame and illustriousness. There were few teenage boys who could not pick Gemma out of a lineup, and she was only 17 years old at the time.
Atkinson played Goldie Lookin Chain's love interest in the music video for the single R'n'B and featured on the cover of the CD single release. She has appeared as a contestant on Reality TV series such Celebrity Weakest Link (with Marcus Patric) in December 2006, ITV1's Soapstar Superstar, reaching the last four stage, and Celebrity Masterchef.

Gemma Atkinson’s open, liberal personality has been a great quality in her career. It allowed her to expand upon a show that was limiting her talents and to turn her acting occupation into a superstar modeling career. She also used her open and sexual personality to seize a journalistic opportunity when she agreed to become Zoo Weekly’s regular sex and relationships columnist.
She will embark upon a 228 km walk along the Great Wall of China in April 2008 as part of a charity event organised by Olivia Newton-John's breast cancer awareness charity where she will be joined by various celebrities and cancer survivors.Gemma will be joined on her section of the walk by celebrities Marcus Patric and Ant and Dec amongst others. In early 2006, Atkinson underwent breast enlargement surgery, which took her bra size to a 34E (admitted during I'm a Celebrity...). She said in an interview that she lost weight due to a fitness regime and her bust size declined. The surgery then gave them the original shape they once were.
Since launching her parallel career as a glamour model, Atkinson has appeared in provocative photoshoots in lingerie and swimwear, including non-nude topless shots, for men's magazines such as Arena, FHM, Loaded, Maxim, Zoo Weekly and Nuts. In October 2006, she appeared in three of the aforementioned magazines in one month, becoming one of the most prolific celebrity glamour models in the UK.
