"Life is really easy in Rio. Everybody works until four and then goes to the beach. Tahiti's absolutely gorgeous. My favorite part of it is how blue the water gets. There's, like, 50 different shades.I would not mind selling something with my name on it." |

Fernanda Motta (born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on January 1, 1981) is a Brazilian fashion model. She is the youngest child of a large extended family. Fernanda Motta's career in the spotlight began when she was still a teenager, and she shot a number of commercials for the Brazilian television market. She was also seen briefly in the critically-acclaimed Argentinean movie Slo por hoy (Just for Today, 2001).
On the runway and in print ads, she worked for companies like Victoria's Secret, Frum, Wonderbra Brazil, and Pantene, which is really credited for launching her international career. Fernanda was discovered on Guarapari Beach just north of Rio de Janeiro at the age of 16 by a talent scout. Fernanda has modeled for such brands as: Cia.Marítima, Gucci, and Chanel. She has appeared in magazines such as: Victoria's Secret, Sports Illustrated, Glamour, Vogue, GQ, Cosmopolitan, and Elle.
This led to her face gracing the pages of the Brazilian edition of Vogue and she was later seen on the cover of U.S. Glamour. In February 2004, Fernanda had men lusting after her when she appeared in the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated.
Fernanda was discovered on Guarapari Beach just north of Rio de Janeiro at the age of 16 by a talent scout. Since then, she has appeared in 4 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, most recently in 2007. She is also known for hosting the reality-show Brazil's Next Top Model, the brazilian version of the show created by Tyra Banks.
Not only was Fernanda Motta featured in the Brazilian edition of Vogue, she made the cover of U.S. Glamour in February 2004. That same month, she was one of the lucky few chosen to be part of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Edition, her first appearance in this publication.
Now living in New York City, Fernanda's hoping for a successful career. In a decade, she would like to be back in Brazil and take on a new role as a mother. Also, she would like to follow in the footsteps of Ana Hickmann -- a fellow Brazilian model -- and have her own collection of products.
