"My cats. Bjorn and Brian Dennehy. They're
Abyssinian. They're amazing, they're really like dogs. I actually went to a psychic once, and she said, 'You have two cats.' And I said, 'Yes, I do.' And she said, 'Yeah, there's one in particular, he's brown, he's a deep thinker, that cat.' So every time I see Bjorn staring into the fire, I'm like, 'Are you having deep thoughts, Bjorn?'." |

Emma Caulfield (born April 8, 1973) is an American actress known for her role as ex-demon Anya on the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hot-and-cool blonde Emma Caulfield bedeviled fans of TV's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" when she first appeared as the demon Anyanka in 1999; her popularity proved so formidable, series creator Joss Wheadon added her to the show's regular cast a season later, reborn in the form human Anya Emerson.
Caulfield, who earned a degree in psychology from San Francisco State University, first regularly graced the small screen in 1995 as a recurring character on the Fox's rich-youth-soap "Beverly Hills 90210" and went on to appear regularly on the venerable daytime drama "General Hospital" (1996-1997) before landing the recurring role on "Buffy." The series gave her enough horror cred to land her the lead in the dismal (but popular) horror film "Darkness Falls" (2003).
Emma M. Chukker was born in San Diego, California to a mother who worked as a professional singer. Emma began her acting career at a young age. In high school while she studied drama, she took parts in plays at the local La Jolla Playhouse and the Old Globe Theatre. Her talent for acting was immediately recognized by her fellow thespians, who awarded her the distinguished Excellence in Theatre Arts award.
After graduating high school, she attended San Francisco State University and UCLA to study psychology. However, her passion for acting continued to drive her. When she finished college she traveled to The American School in Switzerland (TASIS) in London, England, to study drama.
Emma's first notable role was as Brandon Walsh's girlfriend, Susan, on Beverly Hills 90210 in 1995. She appeared for thirty episodes in the series before departing in 1996. In 1998, Emma starred in her most famous role to date, as Anya Jenkins on the WB's hit show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Originally, her character was only to appear for several episodes. However, audiences responded well to Anya, resulting in Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator, Joss Whedon's decision to add her to the cast.
In 2003, Emma landed her first lead role in the horror movie Darkness Falls, which debuted at number one in the U.S. box office. In 2004, she appeared on Monk as Meredith Preminger in the episode "Mr. Monk and the Girl Who Cried Wolf". Caulfield also starred in the satire Bandwagon, playing a fictionalized and unflattering version of herself as a superficial, arrogant actress whose career is imploding.
The movie was written and directed by close friend and fellow actress Karri Bowman. It screened at various festivals, although it has not been picked up for distribution. Several members of Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast and crew have cameos in the film. She passed up the opportunity to audition for the roles of Six and Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica, a decision she later regretted.
Emma was briefly married before her career managed to take off. Today, she continues to act but has stated that she does not want to continue doing so for the rest of her life. With a degree in psychology, Emma is considering other career alternatives, once her stay in Hollywood is done.
In 2007, she endorsed the campaign of Republican congressman and obstetrician Ron Paul for the U.S. presidential election of 2008. However, she announced on a MySpace blog on March 22, 2008 that she will be voting for Barack Obama. Caulfield keeps a regular blog wherein she expresses her political views.
