"I'm competitive with myself. I always try to push past my own borders. Designers are very fickle. I never wanted to be a victim of that. You're in one minute, out the next. I stayed away from mirrors when I was younger and I didn't like having my picture taken. I was tall and had braces and felt ugly." |

Carol Ann Hovenkamp Grow (born May 23, 1971 in Little Rock, Arkansas) is a former beauty queen, model and actress. After becoming Miss Kansas, Carol appeared in the East Coast Girls Calendar and sent in some pictures to Venus Swimwear. Appearing in the pages of Venus Swimwear was probably her biggest break. She has modeled for them since 1995 or 1996, and this helped her land several TV spots, including Co-Ed Training (ESPN2), Bodyshaping (ESPN2), and Search Party (E!).
Carol Grow was born as Carol Hovenkamp and raised in Overland Park, Kansas. At age 15, she starred in her first TV commercial. She became Miss Kansas in 1994, and made it to the finals of the Miss USA pageant. She is now married to former Florida Gator Monte Grow.
In 1993, Hovenkamp won the Miss Kansas USA title in 1993 and went on to represent Kansas in the Miss USA 1994 pageant broadcast live from South Padre Island, Texas on February 11, 1994. She became the fourth consecutive delegate from her state to make the top twelve in the pageant, with an average preliminary score that put her eighth.Once the scores were levelled Grow placed twelve in the interview competition and eleventh in swimsuit and evening gown, which gave her an average score placing her eleventh overall.
After this, she briefly modeled for Venus Swimwear. She has had various guest appearances on television programs, and she was also a sideline reporter for the XFL. She was also a reporter on Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors. She was ranked #80 on the Maxim Hot 100 Women of 2001.
Hovenkamp later moved to Florida and married to former Florida Gators safety Monte Grow. She is a fitness model and was featured on ESPN2 programming during the late 1990s on their morning fitness shows. Grow was also the red team captain on Search Party, a TV show that aired for only one season in 1999 in which two teams composed of minor celebrities and E! network viewers competed in contrived athletic events and scavenger hunts.
