Alyson Renae Michalka (born March 25, 1989), often credited as Aly, is an American actress, singer-songwriter, guitarist, and pianist. She is perhaps best known for her role as Keely Teslow in the Disney Channel Original Series, Phil of the Future and as Taylor Callum in the Disney Channel Original Movie Cow Belles. She is also known as the one-half of the musical duo Aly & AJ with her sister Amanda Michalka. She is the older sister of Amanda Michalka. At the age of 5, Alyson discovered her passion for acting and music through her involvement in the Children's' Performing Arts group at her church. She began seriously studying acting at the age of 11, at which time she also began working as a professional print model. At the age 16, Alyson is also an accomplished musician, singer and songwriter. She has been playing the piano for 9 years, but writes most of her songs on the guitar. She and her younger sister, Amanda both write their own music and perform as a duo with their acoustic and electric guitar driven songs. They released their first CD, Into The Rush from Hollywood Records on August 16th, 2005. Alyson Michalka was born in Torrance, California on March 25, 1989. Alyson and her sister, Amanda (who is two years younger), lived and grew up in Seattle, Washington. Michalka has been playing the piano since she was six and started playing the guitar at the age of thirteen. She started acting when she was five years old, mostly in church play productions. She was raised in Christianity and continues to practice the faith. She loves to sing and has albums out with her sister Amanda Michalka. Michalka started acting when she was five years old. Her debut came when she received the part of Keely Teslow in Disney Channel's Phil of the Future. Michalka later starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Now You See It..., in which she plays Allyson Miller, an ambitious television producer who is trying to find the next great young magician. She has a younger sister, Amanda Michalka, who is also an actress. Alyson and Amanda enjoy writing songs, which landed them a record deal with Hollywood Records. Many of their songs have been featured in movies and television shows: "Do You Believe in Magic?" from the Disney Channel Original Movie Now You See It, "No One" from Ice Princess, "Protecting Me" from Phil of the Future, "Walking On Sunshine" from Herbie: Fully Loaded, and "Rush" from the Disney Channel Original Movie Twitches. Michalka and her sister AJ have recently completed a tour with the Cheetah Girls. Michalka's acting debut came when she was cast in the role of Keely Teslow on the Disney Channel Original Series, Phil of the Future. She has also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movies Now You See It..., in which she plays "Allyson Miller", an ambitious television producer, and Cow Belles, in which she appears opposite her sister. She announced via her MySpace that she had booked a leading role in the Walden Media film, Will, a film about a group of misfits who form a rock band. She will be co-starring with Vanessa Hudgens. Michalka and her sister comprise the musical duo Aly & AJ, and released their first album, Into the Rush, in August 16, 2005. In 2007, their new album, Insomniatic, hit stores, with their chart-topping song, "Potential Breakup Song". |
