Paul Guilfoyle (born April 28, 1949) is an American television and film actor known for playing Captain Jim Brass in the popular forensic television drama CSI. One of the industry's all-around character actors, Guilfoyle has worked in theatre, television and films.
Guilfoyle was born in Canton, Massachusetts. He attended Boston College High School and spoke at the 2005 commencement of the school's seniors. Guilfoyle is not to be confused with character actor Paul Guilfoyle (1902-61), who appeared in films during the 1930s, 40s and 50s.
Attended Boston College High School where he was a stand-out hockey player. Participated in the Seattle Hockey Challenge in 2005 for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. When he was 19 and doing his very first play in a small theater, a bus with 40 fans of Paul Guilfoyle (1902-1961) turned up, hoping to see their favorite actor. He had to explain to them that Paul Guilfoyle had been dead for 12 years.
Often mistakenly referred to as the son of character actor Paul Guilfoyle. They are not related, Attended Lehigh University, class of 1972. Has been in two movies with Harrison Ford: Air Force One (1997) and Random Hearts (1999).
Guilfoyle appeared in Howard the Duck and in an early episode of Crime Story as a criminal who gets into a shootout with the MCU. He takes a hostage, played by Lorraine Bracco. His television appearances most notably include guest roles on Miami Vice, Law & Order, New York Undercover, and Ally McBeal. Active on the stage in both his native Boston and New York.
Guilfoyle was part of an informal repertory company who appeared on Broadway and in Boston supporting actor Al Pacino in such productions as "The Training of Pavlo Hummel", "Richard III" and "Man and Superman". After making his feature debut in one of the biggest flops of the 1980s, "Howard the Duck" (1986), Guilfoyle was cast in supporting roles in such features as "Beverly Hills Cop II" (1987), "Mrs. Doubtfire" (1993), and "Quiz Show" (1994).
His film credits are numerous, spanning nearly three decades. His appearances in notable films include Three Men and a Baby, Wall Street, Beverly Hills Cop II, Quiz Show, Mrs. Doubtfire, Air Force One, Striptease, Amistad, The Negotiator, Extreme Measures, Primary Colors and L.A. Confidential. Guilfoyle also appears in Alter Bridge's video for their single "Broken Wings", and the HBO original movie Live from Baghdad.
