Famous Quote

"I think what makes them similar is that I am lucky to be working with great groups of people. I busted my ass on Hercules and I almost died doing it. I had an aneurism that exploded in my body that almost killed me. I think I'm a good enough actor that he can put me in a secondary part in one of his feature films. I watched a few of them not too long ago to do some commentary. I haven't seen the episodes in years so it was weird to look back on them."

Biography Kevin Sorbo Biography

Kevin David Sorbo (born September 24, 1958) is an American actor best known for the roles of Hercules on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Captain Dylan Hunt in Andromeda. Best known for his portrayals of handsome, square-jawed action heroes on the small screen, the 6' 3", long-limbed Kevin Sorbo’s most recognizable role unquestionably remained his starring turn as the titular lead of “Hercules: the Legendary Journeys.” The actor with the Viking-like build had the last laugh on critics when, after "Hercules" wrapped, he went on to star as hero on yet another successful syndicated series, "Andromeda."

Sorbo’s earnest conviction paid off. “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” (1994-2000) ran for six years and spawned five made-for-TV movies. Consistently landing at the top of the ratings, “Hercules” became one of the highest rated syndicated shows in the history of television and remained a powerhouse in reruns. So strong were the show’s ratings, in fact, that it spawned a mega successful spin-off entitled “Xena: Warrior Princess,” which not only outlived the original series, but eclipsed it in the public imagination. Following the cancellation of “Hercules” in 2000, Sorbo cut off his legendary blond locks and announced his next project – the syndicated sci-fi epic, “Andromeda” (2000-05). Based on an unproduced concept by the late, legendary “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry, “Andromeda” was the story of an advanced starship and its ragtag crew. Cast in the role of the stalwart Captain Dylan Hunt, Sorbo once again played another larger-than-life hero. Far less cheeky than “Hercules,” however, the grimmer space operatic tone of “Andromeda” contributed to making Hunt a more rounded and serious character.

Kevin spent 3 years traveling around the world, modeling for print ads and appearing in over 150 commercials, before landing in his breakout series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" (1995). Kevin David Sorbo was born in Mound, Minnesota, on September 24, 1958. In high school, the "Sorbs" excelled at football, baseball and basketball; in college, he played these 3 sports, plus hockey. Kevin was also in a number of plays. After leaving college, Kevin joined an actors theater group, and traveled to Europe, then to Sydney, Australia appearing in commercials. At the end of 1986, he settled in Los Angeles. Kevin began to make guest appearances on such popular shows as "Murder, She Wrote" (1984). At 6' 3" and very muscular, Kevin was a natural for the title role in what would become his signature series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" (1995).

Kevin became internationally famous, and he learned the craft of film-making well enough to direct and co-write some of the episodes. Kevin even studied martial arts in order to do many of his own stunts. In real life, Kevin's heart is as big as Hercules'-- he leads "A World Fit for Kids!" as the chair and spokesperson. Kevin devotes much of his time to "A World Fit For Kids!" which is a successful mentoring model that trains inner-city teens to use school, fitness, sports and positive role models for themselves, and then become the coaches and mentors for younger children. In 1998, Kevin married lovely actress Sam Jenkins, best known for her dual role on "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" (1995) as Serena/the Golden Hind ("Hind" is a female red deer).
