Famous Quote

"What I enjoy most is travelling to different places and meeting new people. For me, it's all about life experiences, and I'm very grateful that acting allows me so many interesting and fulfilling ones. Being from Texas, I would say I favor a pair of jeans you can wear some boots with. When I was in middle school, some of my so called friends found a catalog ad I did for Superman pajamas. They made as many copies as they could and pasted them up all over school."

Biography Jensen Ackles Biography

Jensen Ross Ackles (born March 1, 1978) is an American television actor. He is notable for his television roles as Eric Brady in Days of Our Lives, Alec/X5-494 in Dark Angel, and Jason Teague in Smallville. He currently plays Dean Winchester on the CW series Supernatural. After roles in a string of action/sci-fi shows, handsome Texan Jensen Ackles used his moody persona and bad boy looks to snag a starring role in the WB hit “Supernatural” (2005 - ). His father Alan Ackles, was an actor who made recurring appearances on “Walker, Texas Ranger” (CBS, 1994 - 2000) and “Dallas” (CBS, 1984-1988). Ackles started modeling when he was two years old and also did some commercial work, appearing in print and TV ads for Wal-Mart, Nabisco and Radio Shack, but didn't begin to fully realize his potential until fifteen years later, where he broke hearts and won fans portraying Eric Brady on the NBC daytime drama "Days of Our Lives" (from 1997 to 2000).

Jensen was born in Dallas, Texas, to Alan Roger Ackles, an actor, and Donna Joan Shaffer. Ackles has an older brother, Joshua, and a younger sister, Mackenzie, and is of Irish and British ancestry. He had planned to study sports medicine at Texas Tech University and become a physical therapist before moving to Los Angeles to become an actor. After modeling as a young child, he began to concentrate on a acting career in 1996 upon his graduation from Lloyd V. Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas. In 1997, he received a role on the NBC soap opera "Days of Our Lives" (1965) as Eric Brady, for which he won a 1998 Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Male Newcomer.

After modeling off and on since the age of 4, Ackles began to concentrate on an acting career in 1996. He appeared in several guest roles on Mr. Rhodes, Sweet Valley High, and Cybill before joining the cast of the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives as Eric Brady in 1997. He won a 1998 Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Male Newcomer and went on to be nominated three times (in 1998, 1999, and 2000) for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his work on Days of Our Lives.

After leaving "Days of Our Lives" (1965) in 2000, Ackles went to Vancouver, joining the cast of the James Cameron television series "Dark Angel" (2000). His first appearance on the show was in 2001 as Max's (played by Jessica Alba) disturbed brother Ben/X5-493. After Ben died, Ackles returned to the series in the second season as Ben's clone, Alec/X5-494, who eventually teamed up with Max and stayed until the show's demise in 2002.

Ackles departed Days of Our Lives in 2000 and went on to appear in the mini-series Blonde about the life of Marilyn Monroe. He also auditioned for the role as the young Clark Kent on Smallville, but it was offered to actor Tom Welling instead. After failing to land the part, he appeared in a guest role on the James Cameron television series Dark Angel on Fox in 2001 as Ben/X5-493, the psychopathic, serial killer "brother" of the main character Max/X5-452 (played by Jessica Alba). His character died in the episode, but Ackles returned to the show as a series regular in the second season as Ben's twin, Alec/X5-494. He remained with the show until its cancellation in 2002.

In 2003, he made several guest appearances as C.J. on the hit WB Network show, "Dawson's Creek" (1998). In 2004, Ackles returned to Vancouver and became a regular on the popular WB Network series "Smallville" (2001), which revolves around the life of the teen aged Clark Kent/Superman. His character, Jason Teague, was an assistant coach for the high school football team and a love interest of Clark Kent's ex-girlfriend, Lana Lang, played by Kristin Kreuk. Ackles returned to television in 2005 in the new WB horror series "Supernatural" (2005) in the role of Dean Winchester, who teams with his brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) to road-trip across the country investigating the paranormal.

Ackles worked steadily throughout 2003. He joined the cast of the WB's hit show Dawson's Creek during the final season, playing CJ, Jen Lindley's lover. Afterward, Ackles filmed several episodes of the unaired series Still Life for Fox before it was abruptly dropped. He also had a small role in the 2004 short film The Plight of Clownana. Ackles was the producer's first choice to play Eliza Dushku's love interest on the second season of Tru Calling, Ackles turned down the role which was then offered to another actor and the character's name was changed to 'Jensen' because the producers of 'Tru Calling' liked Ackles' name. Ackles returned to Vancouver (where Dark Angel was filmed) in 2004 to become a regular on Smallville playing Assistant Football Coach Jason Teague, who was also the newest romantic interest for Lana Lang, played by Kristin Kreuk. He also had a lead role in the 2005 film Devour in which Ackles real life father, actor Alan Ackles also had a role playing the father of Ackles' character, Jake Gray.

Ackles’ first mass market feature was "Devour" (2005) also starring Dominique Swain. He played a college student who was drawn into an online game that soon made his nightmares a reality. It was a critical disaster, but his big break came next. Paired with “Gilmore Girls” Jared Padalecki, “Supernatural” (WB, 2005 - ) was a hit with Generation Y females, who loved the stars, as well as male viewers, who liked the damsels in distress. His character Dean Winchester was a gruff, wreckless and stubborn young man whose life decision to save people from supernatural evils doesn’t seem to fit his personality, even though a demon killed his mother when he was a toddler. Ackles and Padalecki made a sympathetic pair, however, and the good script and production quality made for an exciting hour.

Most recently, Ackles joined the cast of the WB horror/drama series Supernatural in 2005, where he co-stars as Dean Winchester. Dean teams with his brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) to road trip across the country investigating the paranormal while searching for their missing father John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The second season was picked up by The CW in 2006 for the 2006-2007 television season. The show is now in its third season.

Graduated from L. V. Berkner High School, Richardson, Texas in 1996. Has one brother, Joshua, approximately three years older, and one sister, Mackenzie, approximately seven years younger. Was a child model at age 4, then quit, and started again at age 10. Played baseball and lacrosse in high school. Fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Planned to study sports medicine at Texas Tech University and become a physical therapist, before he decided to move to LA to give acting a try.

Enjoys horseback riding. 1993 graduate of Apollo Junior High School in Richardson, TX. 1990 graduate of Dartmouth Elementary School in Richardson, Texas. Was runner up to Tom Welling for the role of Clark Kent on "Smallville" (2001). Was brought onto the show in season 4 as Lana's boyfriend. Also sings and plays guitar. He is the son of actor Alan Ackles. Jensen's parents named him Jensen because they considered other names but found them too common. Ackles, Jensen's last name, is pronounced like 'Cackles' without a 'C.'

Good friends with LeAnn Rimes and Christian Kane. His career has an ongoing theme of dealing with demonic forces. His character's mother, "Marlena" on "Days of Our Lives" (1965), was possessed by the Devil. In the movie Devour (2005), he was the son of "Satan". On his television series, "Supernatural" (2005), his character battles the forces of hell. His parents were going to name him Justin but his parents thought it was too common. Is of Irish, English, and Scottish ancestry. He is a keen photographer and is always taking photos on the set of "Supernatural" (2005). Was offered a role as Eliza Dushku's love interest on "Tru Calling" (2003), but chose to take a role on "Smallville" (2001) instead. Eric Christian Olsen was eventually given the role and the character's name was changed to Jensen. His first name is actually a surname and is the most common surname in Denmark.

In the summer of 2006, Jensen Ackles took on the role of Priestly in the quirky Independent film comedy Ten Inch Hero. The film began hitting the Film Festival circuit in early 2007 and Ackles received high praise for his comedic timing in the role. The movie is currently waiting to find a distributor for feature film release. He also appeared on stage from June 5-10, 2007 with Lou Diamond Phillips in A Few Good Men at Casa Mańana Theatre in Fort Worth Texas as Lt. Daniel Kaffee. Ackles received extensive praise for his work in this role, which was also his first ever appearance in a professional stage production.
