Famous Quote

"My mother is my biggest fan, but she's so weird sometimes! I kinda feel like I'm starting out, really. I've been at this for a while kind of. But I've accomplished so little, thus far. I think he got a job working for Intel. He's training all the people who work the AOL service lines in India. People keep asking me, 'Why do you do shows that fail?' But they just don't understand. I like doing shows that fail."

Biography Eric Balfour Biography

Eric Salter Balfour (born April 24, 1977) is an American film and television actor. He also is the lead singer of the band Born As Ghosts, formerly known as Fredalba. Tall, lanky and perpetually goateed, Eric Balfour rose to fame in guest spots on HBO’s critically acclaimed series “Six Feet Under” (2001-05) and FOX’s “24” (2001- ). Also a talented vocalist for the band Fredalba, Balfour starred in the horror remake “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (2003) and landed a lead in the hit NBC crime drama “Conviction” (2006- ).

Balfour was born in Los Angeles, California, the son of Sharon, who works as a marriage and family counselor, and David Balfour, a chiropractor. He has a younger sister Tori. He is of Russian, French, and Native American descent . Balfour was engaged to actress Moon Bloodgood but reports recently suggest that he is single again. In January, 2008, he participated in a video for Barack Obama produced by Will.I.Am called Yes We Can and campaigned as a surrogate with Kal Penn.

Balfour received his biggest break thus far by next landing a minor role on the pilot for HBO’s series “Six Feet Under” (HBO, 2001-05); as Lauren Ambrose’s meth-smoking boyfriend, Gabriel. Though Balfour was initially hired on for only one episode, show creator Alan Ball was impressed with the chemistry between Balfour and Ambrose and decided to keep the actor on in a recurring role. Balfour appeared on the critically lauded series for two years, on and off.

Balfour appeared on the kids TV show Kids Incorporated for one season in 1991. In 1997, he appeared in the pilot for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as one of the show's very first victims. Years later, Balfour appeared as a dancer in the music video for the song "Fergalicious" by former Kids Incorporated castmate Fergie. He appeared as a regular cast member in three short-lived TV shows. NBC's Hawaii was canceled after seven episodes in 2004, UPN's Sex, Love & Secrets was canceled after four episodes in 2005, and in March 2006, Balfour debuted as Brian Peluso on producer Dick Wolf's short-lived NBC crime drama, Conviction which lasted one season.

He starred in the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre opposite Jessica Biel. He played a minor character in several episodes of The O.C., as Eddie, Theresa's fiancee, and in the hit HBO show Six Feet Under, as Claire's thuggish boyfriend, Gabriel Dimas during most of the show's first season. In 2005, Balfour starred in the controversial and sexually explicit film Lie with Me.

Went to High School in Burbank, California, USA. Eric and his family used to hold Lakota Indian sweat lodges in their backyard. Is the lead singer of the soulful Los Angeles-based rock band Born as Ghosts, formerly known as Fredalba. Played Satan in a car commercial in 2002. He punished a man by forcing him to drive a minivan. Was in a band called Blessed with Soul with Brittany Murphy during the early 1990s.

Eric was originally intended for just the "Six Feet Under" (2001) pilot episode (where he's listed in the credits as "Claire's Meth Date"), but Alan Ball liked the chemistry between Balfour and Lauren Ambrose, so he made Gabriel Dimas a regular part of the program. Engaged to actress Moon Bloodgood (April 24, 2005). He was cut from the John Travolta movie Be Cool (2005), although at least some of his work appears among the deleted scenes on the DVD.

Balfour went on to appear in more feature films, including “In Her Shoes” (2005) with Cameron Diaz and the sexually explicit “Lie with Me” (2005) opposite Lauren Lee Smith. The latter film, which explored the psychological aspects of sex and intimacy, required Balfour to be nude for many of his scenes, no doubt delighting the fan contingent. After appearing in “Sex, Love & Secrets” (UPN, 2005), which was cancelled after only four episodes, Balfour landed a regular role on NBC’s hip law drama “Conviction” in 2006. Centered on the lives of young Manhattan prosecutors, Balfour portrayed Assistant District Attorney Brian Peluso. Also a talented musician and vocalist for the band Fredalba, Balfour released his first record, Uptown Music for Downtown Kids in 2006.

Balfour is one of three actors to have appeared both in The O.C. and The West Wing. Balfour appeared in eight episodes of the first season of 24 as computer technician Milo Pressman in 2001. Five years later, Balfour reprised the role for nineteen episodes of 24's sixth season before leaving the show by his own request. He is the face for the new Valentino male fragrance, Valentino V. He is set to star in CBS's new pilot Protect & Serve in 2007.
